Vietnam’s Natural Beauty Market Is Growing. What Does It Mean for European Brands?

Vietnam’s beauty consumer is becoming more selective.

Ingredient transparency, natural formulations and product safety are becoming increasingly important in how consumers discover and evaluate beauty products. At the same time, Vietnam’s overall beauty and personal-care market continues to expand, reaching VND98.3 trillion in 2025, up 8% in value.

A growing market for natural skincare

Vietnam’s natural skincare market was estimated at approximately US$270 million in 2024 and is projected to reach US$472 million by 2030, representing an estimated CAGR of around 9.8%.

The growth is also happening alongside a highly digital beauty market. E-commerce accounted for an estimated 20.2% of cosmetics sales in Vietnam in 2024, creating more opportunities for consumers to discover, compare and research products online.

This is changing what consumers expect from beauty brands. Natural positioning alone is no longer enough. Consumers increasingly want to understand what is inside the product, where ingredients come from and whether the claims are credible.

The market is already proving the demand

Local and international brands are responding in different ways.

Cocoon, for example, has built its positioning around Vietnamese botanical ingredients and natural beauty. International brands such as L'Occitane and Innisfree have also established nature-led propositions in the market.

Research on Vietnamese consumers supports this broader shift. A 2025 study of 315 Vietnamese Gen Z consumers found that social-media marketing activities significantly influenced perceived quality and perceived value for organic cosmetics, highlighting the role of digital education in how younger consumers evaluate these products.

Why European brands have an opportunity

European brands already excel in transparent, natural, and certified beauty. The opportunity in Vietnam, therefore, may not be about introducing the concept of clean or natural beauty from scratch. Translating a proven concept to a growing market.

But product-market fit is only one part of the equation.

For international brands, successful entry also requires regulatory preparation, the right distribution model and a local partner who understands the market. Vietnam's cosmetics framework continues to evolve, including updates to product notification requirements under the Ministry of Health's 2025 regulations.

The opportunity is there. The harder question is how to enter it correctly.
